As a good security practice you are strongly advised to:

Keep your password confidential!

  • Avoid sharing or divulging your Password to anyone. This includes any person(s) who may appear to represent or work for the Bank. Our customer support staff never require your password at any time.
  • Avoid using the same Internet Banking Password for any other web-based services such as for e-mail or for Internet Service Provider login.
  • Avoid choosing a Password that is easily anticipated by a third party, like your NRIC number, telephone number, date of birth, etc.. You should select a unique Password to make it difficult for anyone to anticipate.
  • Avoid writing down or "saving" your Password on your browser or any other software. Memorise your Password. Do not use the automatic storing of the ID and password function provided in your browsers.
  • If you suspect your Password may have been compromised, change your Password immediately. If you are unable to do so, please contact our Customer Support Helpdesk at Tel: 603-2179 5000 and our customer support staff will temporarily disable your account for you.

Ensure you are accessing the correct website!
Never access the website via a hyperlink from an e-mail. Always enter the correct website address yourself, which is either www.pbebank.com or www.pbebank.com.my.

Only access Internet Banking using a secure and trusted computer!

  • Never access your Internet banking service on computers/ devices which you have doubts with regard to security, such as those located in public places. If you have to use such computers (for example, when you are on trips), change your password once you have access to a secure computer.
  • Keep your operating system (e.g. Microsoft Windows) and Internet-related software updated with the latest security patches.
  • Protect your computer from viruses and malicious programs with anti-virus software and firewalls where possible. Always update your anti-virus software with the latest virus signatures.
  • Always log out your Internet banking session by clicking on the "Logout" button whenever you leave your computer, even for a short while.Do not simply close the browser window when you wish to end the Internet banking session.
  • Contact our Customer Support Helpdesk immediately if you notice any discrepancies in your account as a result of unusual transactions.
  • Please clear your browser's cache and history after log out.
  • Please take note of the date and time of your last login which should match with the one displayed in our E-Banking system.
  • To prevent your computer from "hanging" frequently, thereby affecting its performance, we strongly recommend the use of a reputable anti-virus and anti-spyware product to scan for and remove computer viruses from your hard disk on a regular basis.
  • Install up-to-date anti Virus and anti Spyware programs to regularly scan your computer, locate, quarantine and delete any Spyware / Adware / Virus / Trojan Horse / Rootkit in your computer.
  • To protect your computer when connecting to the Internet, we strongly recommend the use of a reputable software or hardware firewall. Please be careful in the configuration as it may cause a conflict in viewing websites.
  • Keep your computer operating system and Web browser current. If your computer is more than five years old, its operating system (e.g. Windows 98, OS 7 etc.) may not offer the same level of protection as newer systems. System manufacturers such as Microsoft and Apple provide frequent updates to help make your system more secure. You may check out their websites:

  • You may verify the validity of our Login page by clicking on the Trust Gate Secure Site Verisign or by checking the Bank's name in its digital certificate.

    Ensure the following on the Certificate:

    (a) The Certificate is issued to www2.pbebank.com
    (b) The Certificate is issued by Verisign
    (c) The Certificate has a valid date


    Steps to check the Bank's Digital Certificate:
    * Internet Explorer
     
    - Perform a right mouse click on our Login page and select "Properties".
    - Click on "Certificates" to display the certificate that ensures the authenticity of the website.
       
    * Nestcape 8 / Mozilla Firefox 1.06 and above
     
    - Perform a right mouse click on our Login page and select "View Page Info".
    - Click on "Security" and select "View" to display the certificate that ensures the authenticity of the website.
       
    * Opera 8.5
      On our Login page, click on the yellow security bar displayed inside the address bar to display the certificate that ensures the authenticity of the website.
