You can open a Savings Account via MyPB App as long as:
- You are a new-to-Bank individual aged between eighteen (18) to fifty-nine (59) years old
- You are a citizen of Malaysia with a new MyKad (MyKad issued after April 2012). Not applicable for MyPR, MyKAS, MyTentera and MyKid.
- You have an active current / savings account registered under your sole name with another bank (other than Public Bank) in Malaysia.

No, you can only open one (1) savings account using the MyPB App.
You can open a Savings Account by following the steps below:
Step 1: Launch MyPB App and tap on ‘Savings Account’ located under the Apply Section.
Step 2: After the introduction, input your Name, MyKad number and mobile number to start the application. An SMS will be sent to your mobile number for verification purposes
Step 3: Fill up the application form, verify and confirm all your details.
Step 4: Scan your IC and verify it with a selfie video.
Step 5: Register and create your internet banking profile.
Step 6: Place an initial deposit, and you are done.

It takes approximately 10 minutes to complete the online application form.
This is a form of customer verification process known as Electronic Know Your Customer (e-KYC). By verifying yourselves following the steps displayed on the app, we will get to know you better, and in the meantime, safeguarding your identity and financing activities on the platform. The e-KYC verification process is mandatory for all applicants who wishes to apply for a savings account through the app.
Before you submit your MyKad image for verification, please ensure:
- your MyKad is with hologram (MyKad issued after Apr 2012)
- your inputted name and MyKad number for the application is same as your MyKad information
- your MyKad information is clear and readable
If you have entered your information incorrectly, kindly cancel the application and resubmit a new application with the accurate information to proceed.

No. If you would like to change the information in your application after you’ve submitted it online, please visit your Account Holding Branch.
For security reasons, we need to conduct further verification prior to your account creation. We thank you for your patience and the new account should be ready within two (2) business days, subject to the Bank’s approval.
You will be notified via email upon successful account opening. Alternatively, you can launch MyPB App to view your application progress through your application submission page.
You will receive a SMS informing successful account opening upon approval of the application. An acknowledgement email with the full account number will be sent to your registered email address within 24 hours.
Due to the security measures we have put in place, there could be multiple reasons such as personal or employment details provided which may require further verification, where we are unable to process your applications digitally via MyPB App. Kindly visit any Public Bank branch for account opening.
You will need to place an intial deposit deposit via DuitNow Transfer from your current /savings account maintained with another bank to activate your Public Bank’s savings account. It’s important for you to place your initial deposit as soon as your application is approved as your application will expire after 14 days from the date you submit your online application. You can proceed to login after the initial deposit placement.
You must ensure that the initial deposit placement must be from the other Bank Account that you submitted during your application. You may access your email to retrieve the account information.
You are required to visit your Account Holding Branch to close your account.
